Music in worship

The Organ Music forms a key part of Sunday worship at the 9.30am Parish Eucharist.

Choir - Singing is led by an adult choir, who is also available to sing at other special services in the church calendar and at weddings.

For more information about the choir contact Chris Britton on 020 8891 2305.

The choir rehearses at 8.30 on a Sunday morning.

Music Group - On third Sundays of the month the singing is led by an informal style music group, comprising singers and instrumentalists.

For more information contact Rachel Logan on 020 8241 2528 .

Bells - The bells are rung at St Mary's on a Sunday, calling people to worship at the Parish Eucharist at 9.30am and before the evening service at 6.00pm.

For more information contact Norman Edwards on 020 8941 5867.

Anyone with commitment can learn, and it does not require great strength. Bell-ringing can count towards a Duke of Edinburgh award. Practice is at 7.30pm on Wednesdays.

Hand Bells – Hand bells are sometimes rung at the Parish Eucharist on the third Sunday of the month and for some special occasions.

For more information contact Norman Edwards on 020 8941 5867.

Taizé / Sung Evensong – Music also plays a significant part in our Taizé style worship on a Sunday evening and in occasional Sung Evensong.

Visiting Choirs – For some of our special services we are joined by The Marble Hill Singers, Howells Singers or Lambeth Choir, particularly for the Remembrance Sunday Requiem, the Advent Carol Service and a Passiontide service of readings and anthemns.

Music and Young People

There are opportunities for musical young people to sing or play their instruments during Communion at the 9.30am Parish Eucharist or as part of the music group, which plays at the 9.30am Parish Eucharist on third Sundays of the month.

St Mary's Church is a popular venue for music. It is used regularly by the Richmond Concert Society, the Joyful Company of Singers, the Marble Hill Singers, Twickenham Choral Society, the Lambeth Choir, the Howells Singers and many other groups and choirs.
